The Operational Risk Analyst is responsible for executing the different activities of Operational Risk Management Governance framework under the leadership of the Managing Director. Activities include Line of Business liaison to ORM. Manages multiple teams through risk assessment activities. Evaluates action plans for issue management and provides oversight of project plans. Supports LOB in SOx, internal and external audits, and regulatory exams. May act as project management resource, or perform other miscellaneous duties as needed to support LOB initiatives. Identifies requirements, develops, and executes test cases, and contributes to procedural documentation in support of risk management program projects. Participates in and facilitates business process modeling and reengineering efforts including support of continuous improvement efforts. Compiles data, maintains databases and generates monthly risk metric reporting. May provide system administration and user access governance support.

  • Support the execution and ongoing enhancement of the Operational Risk Management program

  • Assist with gathering key risk indicator data from business units to assist with reporting deliverables.

  • Schedules the monthly/quarterly risk meeting and records the minutes 

  • Verifies that any follow-ups, action items, etc from meetings are executed

  • Develops new and updates Operational Risk procedures

  • Lead Operational Risk Management Program components with accountability for all related aspects including project plans, timelines, tools and techniques, analysis, reporting, and communication. ORM Program components assigned can include LOB Risk Self-Assessment, New Activity, Model Validation, and/or 1st & 2nd line of defense programs.

  • Raise key operational risk vulnerabilities as identified with an appropriate sense of urgency and practical solution-oriented suggestions.

  • Provide ongoing and value-added operational risk consultation to the line of business to influence process changes and management support with balanced and effective solutions. Prepare written analyses and reports to management for presentation to the Operational Risk Management Committee.

  • Serve as ambassador to ORM and Risk Appetite strategy by demonstrating general knowledge and links to day-to-day work as appropriate.

  • Act as Point of Contact for audit related activities such as regulatory audits, internal audits, and Sox

  • Support line of business with design and oversight of control testing

  • Oversee and execute user access management program

  • Stay abreast of industry trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Auditing, or related field or equivalent combination of training, education and experience

  • Certified Risk Professional (CRP) certification(s) is a plus.

  • Banking operations experience is a plus.

  • Compliance background is a plus.

  • Working knowledge of products, services, processes, requirements, and systems related to the bank

  • Working knowledge of operational, regulatory and audit risk control concepts and standards

  • Effective organizational, planning and time management skills

  • Effective research and presentation skills

  • Effective skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines

  • Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to facilitate discussions 

  • Ability to work independently and on a team, multi-task, and take ownership of deliverables

  • Exposure to collaborating across organizational boundaries and building partnerships across various functions

  • Willingness to ask questions, challenge the status quo and seek out answers

  • Occasional travel to Webster Bank sites, meetings, seminars may be required.

The estimated salary range for this position is $70,000USD to $90,000USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
